Arsen Merabyan

Contemporary repertoire and contact improvisation

Master and repeater of the Basel Opera, Switzerland.  

 

She began her dance studies at the María de Ávila Dance Conservatory and at the Victor Ullate school. Gets the  degrees from the Royal Professional Conservatory of Madrid and the equivalent in France; the “Diplôme d'État de Professeur de Danse”. He went through renowned companies such as; the Victor Ullate Ballet, the Lyon Opera Ballet, the National Dance Company and the Norwegian Opera National Ballet, the latter invited by the Jiri Kylian team to participate in the evening with pieces by renowned choreographer Jiri Kylian. Once at the Opera de Lyon, he danced in the work of Carmen by the also renowned choreographer, Mats Ek, playing the role of the Gypsy and dancing as Sylvie Guillem's partner. His dance ends up encompassing different styles such as conceptual dance, post-modern dance, dance-theater and contemporary dance.  

 

As a Freelance, he participates in projects by various renowned choreographers such as Jiri Kylian and William Forsythe, Rachid Ourandame or Jérome Bel. Today he lives in France, where he continues to enrich himself and develops a good part of his professional experience. She also immerses herself in the world of choreography, creating several works and some of them being awarded nationally and internationally, participating in different international dance and video dance festivals. His work "sonata" was created for a short film being broadcast on the Arte Fra/Ale channel.

 

He teaches workshops where he applies his creation process with; impros and contact improvisation. He also teaches contemporary and classical classes in conservatories, choreographic centers, festivals, cultural events and dance companies such as; The Opera de Lyon, the Deutsch Oper de Berlin, Pavillon Noir by Angelin Preljocaj or Wayne McGregor's company, ...etc.
